Our engagements
Three ways to work together
Each engagement is designed for a specific moment in an ASEAN relationship — entering a new country, reviewing an existing partnership, or answering a single focused question. All three are delivered in writing, to a defined scope, at a fixed fee.

How we approach each engagement
Every Onyrra Group engagement begins with a conversation — not a proposal. We take time to understand what you are working on before suggesting which of our three engagements fits best, or whether a combination would serve you. Occasionally the answer is that something else would be more useful, and we say so.
All our work is delivered in writing. Sessions are preparation for the written output, not the output itself. This means you receive something that holds its value after the engagement ends — a document your senior team can return to, share with others, and use as a reference when related situations arise.
We do not offer generic ASEAN cultural training or broad advisory on strategy. Our work is narrow and specific: the cultural and relational dimension of a particular cross-border business relationship, addressed with care and delivered at a pace that allows the subject to be properly handled.
Engagement 01
ASEAN Cross-Cultural Engagement
RM 3,000 · 10 weeks
A patient engagement for Malaysian firms preparing to work closely with partners in a specific ASEAN country — Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, or Singapore. We prepare your senior team with the cultural literacy the relationship will require.
What is included
- Written grove note on business and meeting conventions for the target country
- Coverage of hospitality customs, time expectations, and relationship formation
- Points where Malaysian business habits require quiet adjustment
- Discussion guide for senior staff, structured for practical use
- Four working sessions over ten weeks
How the engagement proceeds
- 1Initial conversation — we establish the country, the type of relationship, and the key concerns
- 2Research and drafting — country-specific material is gathered and assembled over weeks 1–6
- 3Working sessions — four conversations with your senior team at intervals across ten weeks
- 4Grove note delivered — the complete written document is provided in week 9 or 10
Best for: firms preparing for a first significant engagement with a new ASEAN partner country

Counterpart Relationship Review
RM 2,200 · 8 weeks
For firms with an existing ASEAN counterparty — distributor, joint-venture partner, or long-term supplier — who wish to take measured stock of the relationship at a particular moment. We listen carefully, often on both sides, and prepare a written review.
What is included
- Written review of how the relationship is currently held
- Identification of where small adjustments are warranted
- Clear indication of what existing practice should be left undisturbed
- Counterpart consultation where each party is willing to participate
- Three working sessions over eight weeks
How the engagement proceeds
- 1Initial session — we understand the relationship's history and current state from your side
- 2Counterpart conversation — where willing, we arrange a structured conversation with your ASEAN partner
- 3Review drafting — the written review is prepared in weeks 5–7
- 4Delivery and closing session — the review is shared and a final working session is held
Best for: firms at a crossroads in an ASEAN partnership — preparing for renegotiation, a change in terms, or after a period of tension

Engagement 03
Grove Note
RM 920 · 2 weeks
A short written response to a single cross-cultural question — the wording of a delicate message to a counterpart, the framing of a particular concession in a negotiation, or a point of protocol before a specific meeting. Roughly 1,500 words, delivered within two weeks.
What is included
- Approximately 1,500 words of focused written counsel on a single question
- Delivered within two weeks of receiving the brief
- One follow-up call to discuss what has been written
- Written for practical use — immediately before a meeting, message, or decision
How the engagement proceeds
- 1You send the question — by email or through a brief call, you describe the specific situation
- 2We clarify if needed — a short call to ensure we have the right context before writing
- 3Grove note delivered — the written response arrives within two weeks
- 4Follow-up call — you may raise questions about what has been written
Best for: managing directors facing a specific cross-cultural question before a fuller engagement or on a stand-alone basis

How we work
Standards that apply to every engagement
Confidentiality provision
Every engagement agreement includes a confidentiality clause covering all information shared in the course of the work.
Written scope agreement
Before any engagement begins, scope, timeline, and fee are confirmed in writing. Nothing is added without a separate discussion and agreement.
Senior-led throughout
The same senior advisers who lead the initial conversation are the ones who write the note and lead the working sessions — without hand-off.
Quality review before delivery
All written outputs are reviewed by a second senior adviser before delivery to you. The grove note or review you receive reflects more than one set of eyes and experience.
Malaysian PDPA compliant
Personal data shared in the course of engagements is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
Respectful of counterparts
Our work describes ASEAN business cultures with care and respect. We do not produce notes that characterise counterpart cultures in unflattering or reductive terms.
Fees
Fixed, transparent pricing
All fees are agreed before work begins. There are no variable components, no scope-extension surcharges, and no success-based fees.
